First Illness

What a strange virus. First, Lucas had the stomach flu on a Monday and then not again until Thursday. The following week he had hives. Once we were done with that, Mya vomited on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and had diarrhea on Wednesday. Sheesh!
What is strange about it is that it seems to come and go. On Tuesday this week, Mya seemed great so Grandma and I loaded her up and took her shopping. At the McDonalds outdoor playground she woofed her cookies (thank goodness we were outside! Best place for it really when you consider cleaning a car seat or cleaning up a store floor). She was happy and playing, threw up and went on to play some more. It was more like a gag or choke really.
Today she is bright and cheery, managing some cheerios and banana, tucked into her high chair with a great big stuffed elephant we've named Dumbo.
When my kids are sick I am painfully reminded that this whole parenting thing is really just one big guessing game. Is it this? Was it that? Does having all the answers really change anything anyway? I'm still cleaning up vomit and worrying about dehydration and weight loss regardless of which bug has taken up residence.
