So Fully Who They Are

It amazes me how large a role nature plays in the nature vs. nurture debate. Before having kids, I wouldn't have dreamed that they arrive in the world so fully who they are. Of course their environment will shape them, but they are such little people and our kids were who they are the moment they arrived.
Mya is such a complex little being at this stage. She is calm and quiet, but not timid. She is tough and fierce in many ways. She seems so content with things, yet she is constantly attracted to stimulating things. So long as she has some action in front of her, she is satisfied.
Mya is a social creature and is always aware of what those around her are doing. She likes to get her hands on things and seems to learn experientially. Yet, she is crazy about books too. If there is one around, she will get her hands on it. She favors her left hand, she loves to put things on her head and anything sparkly or girly draws her like a magnet. Very little of this can be linked to any one experience or influence - she just seems to be fully herself. She's amazing.
