Dear Sweetness,
You are a delight. I watch you move about in your world and I marvel at your greatness. You are bright, funny and spunky. I tell you this so you can gain strength and move with certainty. It is my greatest wish that you get to live your whole life with these attributes.
I see how you are developing an awareness of, and concern for, those around you. You have a big heart and you are learning how to share it with others. Thank you for saying "Mommy, guess what?" waiting for me to say "What?" and then blurting out "I love you" before dashing away.
You are moving into the inquisitive phase too. Why? is a constant question for you. I know that if you approach all things and all people with a curiosity, free from agenda, you will do well in the world.
I really like how you entertain yourself and find your own personal fulfillment through your own actions and play. Self-sufficiency now is a good sign for your future.
I know that you get upset and can't stop yourself from throwing a big hissy fit. I know that you have some tools that you are learning to use - breathe and punch a pillow, please don't scream or kick.
It is okay to cry, it is okay to be angry - you know that. I love the depth of your feelings and certainly don't want to dull you in anyway. Feel it all, truly, madly, deeply and then choose a wise course of action.
