Mya's First Teacher Conference

Mya is doing well in all areas of school. To my relief, she is good with the other kids in the class and her temper tantrums are infrequent and short. She is not bossy and she does a good job of sharing and taking turns. Whew!

As far as skills and abilities, our little Miss Mya is on track and beyond. I know I'm her Mother and that makes me biased, but her verbal skills are astounding! She asked if I would help her cut properly the other day - I quote.

Things seem to come to her easily and Ms. Kristie had some excellent advice on that. She learned with her own kids to praise effort and dedication and perseverance instead of praising brightness. Mya may reach a stage where some effort is required of her and it's important she knows how to try hard. Ms. Kristie wisely counseled - "Never tell them how smart they are!".

Okay, I won't tell her directly that I think she's brilliant, but I just have to brag about it here - she's gifted!
