I am accustomed to living with one who has an extraordinarily keen sense of smell. It seems I live with two. Craig has an amazing ability to sniff out just about anything and he is clearly a more gifted smeller than myself. I think it contributes to his "foodie" tendencies. Good smells and good tastes are vital to him.
Now, I'm noticing that smells reach Mya's schnozz long before mine. She will comment on an odour whenever a strange one wafts her way.
One of her favourite activities is to tear out all the perfume samples from magazines and compare them. She took it to a new level yesterday as she started to describe specific notes she was picking up. "This one smells like oranges. This one has chocolate," she decided. Darn if she wasn't right - I could smell those things too once her finely-tuned instrument picked them up and she pointed them out to me.
However, is such an enhanced sense a blessing or a curse? Mya told Craig the other day that his butt smelled. "It smells like raisins. Very strong raisins".
