A Love of Girlie Things

Despite her rough and tumble, Mya is distinctively a girly girl too.  I'm not sure if this is a phase, or it will settle in for years, but I thought I'd list the copious amounts of feminine goodies that she adores;

- princesses - the new one, Tiana has her fancy so that will be a holiday treat.
- lip gloss - the more the better.
- nail polish - it stops my heart when she comes out of her room with a fresh coat and the announcement "I did it myself!"
- temporary tattoos - there's a cute one above her belly button right now.
- hair accessories - although they last all of 3 minutes in her hair.
- purses

- shoes, shoes, shoes - the latest addition are soft pink slippers covered in polka dots that she wears to bed.
- sparkles, glitter and glitz - there is even glitter dust that you can spread everywhere (I do mean everywhere).  She told me she blew it around her room last time.
- sparkly body lotion or spray

- anything perfumed - she requests lavender essential oil drops on her hands so she can rub her clothes or her bed. I find perfume pages torn from magazines tucked everywhere in the house.
- to my immense dismay, she now knows who "Hannah Montana" is and that her real name is Miley Cyrus.  We own only two or three pieces of her merchandise but I can see it coming.

I have now learned that it will take quite a bit of coaxing for her to wear anything brown or green.  Yellow is out of the question.  Orange was acceptable during the Halloween season.  Red and black together are now okay, but only after I explained the concept of complementary colors.  "Everything doesn't need to match," I gently explained on her hunt for red panties, socks, pants, shirt, coat and bag. Now, if she had been on a quest for matching pink, she would have succeeded from head to toe.
